The serval is a medium-sized wild cat native to Africa. It is notable for its slender build, long legs, relatively short tail, and huge, radar-like ears. Their ears are so sensitive that they can easily hear the movements of prey hiding in tall grass or even moving underground. Its coat is golden-yellow, covered with black spots and stripes that resemble a cheetah.
Servals possess incredible leaping abilities; they can jump 2 to 3 meters (up to 10 feet) straight up into the air from a standstill to catch a bird in flight. They are also among the most successful hunters in the feline world. While a lion or tiger has a hunting success rate of around 10-20%, about 50-60% of a serval's hunting attempts are successful.
