Leopard / Panthera pardus saxicolor
In recent years, young male leopards have been seen in the eastern regions of Turkey. They live in Türkiye, Iran and the surrounding geography.
Leopards are one of the cat species that prefer to live alone. So much so that males and females do not come together except during the breeding season. Females give birth to their babies alone and take care of them for only 2 years. Afterwards, they expel their cubs from the area.
Leopards, which are in danger of extinction, have many subspecies depending on their geography. The predatory cat, known as the 'Anatolian Leopard' and endemic to our country, is also a subspecies of the Leopard.
They live an average of 17 years. They can reach a weight of 70 kilos and a height of 1.9m.
